The absence of blogs these past few days can be attributed to one thing – well two little blonde haired things actually – the girls have been on Easter holiday. Well it’s called Spring break here.
I know I am on borrowed time, not only due to the fact that I’ve only got two weeks to enjoy their company (and stay in my PJs beyond 6.30am), but also because the mercury is on the rise.
Tuesday was glorious weather and a good covering of cloud meant we could spend all afternoon on the sands. Wednesday was a scorcher and pushing the girls on the swings at Al Barsha park I felt that horrid familiar feeling that only happens in the desert summer – a bead of sweat slowly cascading down the back of my leg from me bum to me knee.
In a matter of weeks we’ll not have free reign to access the great outdoors. Come June we’ll be on the beach at 7am and home by 10am at the latest.
With the weather on the turn and the prospect of spending far more time than I would wish on my worst enemy in soft play areas (spend just one hour in Mini Monsters on the SZR and you’ll know what I mean), we’ve been outdoors everyday this week. Pool in morning, beach in afternoon, followed next day by picnic in the park and rounded off with paddling pool play in the garden – you get the general itinerary. We are all exhausted – and slightly redder in the face.
About this blog...
I set up this blog to reveal what real life is like here in the UAE - the good and the bad. I'll chat about what I've been up to, Dubai news and developments, my thoughts about expat life here (and in general) and reports about my holidays and adventures in the region (travel is my bag after all).
